Ed Brubaker (CAPTAIN AMERICA) & Sean Phillips (HELLBLAZER), known for their beloved crime comics, are bringing their talents to the seedy world of their very own industry.

BAD WEEKEND takes the reader through the history of comics processed through the genre of crime fiction.  The story follows Hal Crane, a legendary cartoonist, who must face his past failures while stranded at an out-of-town comic convention.

Regarding his protagonist, Brubaker said, “Hal Crane isn’t based on anyone in particular. But bits and pieces of his history are lifted from sad tales and sordid gossip that you hear over the years in this business, especially about the old days. Gambling. Drinking. Prostitution. Theft. Death. There’s always been a darkness at the edge of comics and I wanted to explore that in Bad Weekend. Is this an exposé of the industry? Sort of, but it’s a love letter to the medium, as well.”

Image Comics will release BAD WEEKEND in its hardcover glory this July, just in time for San Diego Comic-Con.
