Fan Theory – Marvel Smoke Screens

The following article contains spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War and possibly spoilers for Avengers 4.

Ok, so I have nothing to back up this theory, this is simply based on what we’ve seen, but bare with me here. What if the “fake” scenes that were in the Avenger: Infinity War trailer aren’t fake, but scenes from Avengers 4? This scene in particular caught my attention

We’ve all chalked this up to a Marvel smoke screen. They rendered a fake Hulk into this scene to keep his storyline secret. But Why? In all the previews that were released we only see one shot of Loki holding the Tesseract. This simple fact lead a lot of people to accurately predict Loki get’s killed in the beginning of the film. So why on earth did they have to “hide” that the Hulk was scared? And why not have a fake shot with Ant-Man or Hawkeye so people don’t know they weren’t in the movie? I kept asking this when I saw this poster, but it was never officially confirmed they weren’t in the film till it came out. So what are they hiding? Maybe they aren’t hiding anything with this shot.

As I talked about in a previous rant, Avengers 4 appears that it will include time travel. Based on the leaked set photos it appears that Cap, Iron Man, Ant-Man and possibly Hulk travel back to the end of the first Avengers film. The moment when Thor and Loki, with the Tesseract in-tow are traveling back to Asgard. It isn’t much of logical leap that they are there to either steal the Tesseract from Thor and Loki or destroy it in some fashion (or hide it in the quantum realm).

So if the team is successful then there would be a change in the timeline. Giving this some thought I have realized that it wouldn’t affect any of the past movies with the acception of Infinity War. Why? Because the Tesseract has been locked up in a vault in Asgard since the end of that movie. But it also means that Thanos doesn’t show up on the Asgardian Ship in the beginning of Infinity War and thus never beats up Hulk. Ergo Hulk never becomes afraid of Thanos, thus he comes out to fight on Wakanda.

Also I want to point out that the other “fake scenes” from the trailers are inconsequential to spoiling the movie. The Banner/Black Widow moment happened in the avengers base, not in Wakanda, so can easily be argued that this was an editing choice. Thor saying who the hell are you guys, again editing choice to cut the length of the scene and Thanos saying his line about considering fun when balancing the Universe, again editing choice. You can easily argue that line doesn’t fit the tone of Thanos in the rest of the film.

So simply put, Hulk being in Wakanda is the only scene that can be argued was thrown in to hide a plot point, and it’s a plot point that seems inconsequential. So why do it? Is it a hint at things to come, or just a crazy fan theory? Let me know what you think in the comments down below.
