Gameloft announced the launch of the “Asphalt esports Series”, the newest addition to the world’s most downloaded mobile racing franchise.
Adding spice to the competition, Porsche has signed on as the official car brand of the tournament. Perhaps even more exciting, players will have four months to enter a racing competition and compete to qualify for the grand finale. From there, the best player from each country* can try to win a €20,000 prize.
“Esports coming to mobile is a natural evolution of the industry and a testament to how important mobile gaming has become. Aligned with Gameloft’s philosophy to provide the best gaming experiences to all players, we want to offer everyone a chance to play on stage at one of the world’s biggest events in the gaming industry” stated Damien Marchi, VP Marketing & Communications at Gameloft. “With this first “Asphalt esports Series”, we push the competition further by combining the best mobile gaming device with Black Shark and the benchmark for mobile racing games with Asphalt 9: Legends.”
David Li, Global VP at Black Shark adds “As a gaming company made by gamers, we are very proud to partner up with Gameloft on this new esports competition. This collaboration confirms that smartphones are definitely the new leading gaming devices. We are confident that our cutting-edge technology will help gamers exceed their capacity and discover a whole new dimension of mobile gaming.”
The first qualification rounds for the “Asphalt esports Series presented by Black Shark” began May 20th, 2019. The best teams will be selected depending on their overall ranking and will then meet in Germany for the grand finale in August at Gamescom.
The Asphalt racing series is available on the App Store, Google Play, or the Microsoft Store.
*The “Asphalt esports Series presented by Black Shark” is open to the following markets: France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Spain, United Kingdoms and United States.
