The clan less fighter from Harlem has just discovered that his best student has stolen his fighting suit and invitation to fight in the deadly tribunal. Hellfighter Quin wishes to protect his hood from Doom but is he able to save his student from the dangerous tribunal tournament that he has foolishly entered.
The comic has an interesting premise, but there is not much explanation or introduction to the world that the Hellfighter lives in. The context is difficult to grasp and therefore it reminds me of a 90s fighting game story. The unfortunate event that happens does not carry any weight, so Quin’s motivation seems very cliché and forced. The story did not enthrall me due to the lack of details. I hope that in the next issue, they take some time to explain how we got here. So far, the execution is off.
The artwork is very mediocre. It lacks detail in certain areas of the panel, although admittedly the details missing do not take anything away from what they are trying to show you in the panels. The body shapes are awkward at time. At one point the main character had his hand near his face and the hand looked way to small. It reminded me of Deadpool’s baby hand from the first Deadpool movie.
Overall, I give this comic 5 capes out of 10. It is mediocre in all areas and could benefit from a little better story telling about the world it exists in.
