Madam Masque is working with M.O.D.O.K and AIM but learns that AIM is going to leave the planet, due to a massive swarm of bug like aliens headed straight toward earth. Madam Masque is not willing to leave her home world, so she decides to approach the Avengers for a potential solution. The Avengers listen to Madam Masque and are grateful for her intel. She will be granted a clear record and new life if her intel pans out.

This story is simple. A bunch of fear inducing aliens head toward Earth and cause a lot of trouble for Earth’s mightiest heroes. Each member’s greatest fears come to life in this simple story. I will keep in mind that this was written for mid-level readers. In that respect I feel the story was written well. It’s easy to understand what is happening and I think it would be a great Avengers story for any younger comic reader or a newcomer to comics. As an avid and experienced comic reader I did enjoy the story and thought that it progressed well. It lacked a lot of details and in-depth dialog that you would find in a lot of traditional comic stories, but again this is not for advanced readers.

The artwork is very simplistic but colorful. It reminds me a lot of the animated Avengers stories. Everything is clear and easy to understand what is happening in each panel. This is essential to have, if you want the younger readers and less experience comic readers to understand. Everything pops off the page pretty good and I like that it is simple and not over stylized.

Overall, I give Marvel Action: Avengers The fear eaters 7 capes out of 10. The story is a bit cliché and simplistic along with the artwork, but keep in mind that this is for mid-level readers and not for comic book nerds like me. With that said I still enjoyed it and would recommend this for kids that are looking to get into comics or even adults that are just looking to cut their teeth and become a comic readers.
