Review – Dungeons & Dragons: Days of Endless Adventure

Dungeons & Dragons: Days of Endless Adventure is a mammoth 380 page omnibus that includes three stories named, Legends of Baldur’s Gate, Shadow of the Vampire and Frost Giant’s Fury.

Published by IDW Comics

Written by Jim Zub

Art for the three books is by Max Dunbar, Nelson Daniel and Netho Diaz respectively.

Delina the Moon Elf Wildmage is running through the streets of Baldur’s gate upper city. She is being chased by flying stone gargoyles until she cast her spell upon them, but it doesn’t kill them. Instead of killing her enemies, her spell brings to life a hero of the past. Turns out that it was a statue of the Legendary Ranger Munsc and his war hamster! Now they live and breath to fight for good and justice once more! After the enemies are dispatched by Munsc (Who you may remember from a previous Dungeons & Dragon comic review), Delina and Munsc join up. They also meet some other companions and get caught up on an adventure that takes them through Balder’s gate, into the mist of Ravenloft and then the Spine of the world. It is an epic and long adventure to be sure.

This book was a lot of fun. I was not able to finish it in one sitting, but I definitely was not bored. All the D&D troupes and language are there, so you will never mistake the fact that you are reading a Dungeons & Dragons book. The story is well done. The pacing of the story is quick, but slow enough to get great details about the world around the heroes as well as the heroes themselves. It is not super complicated by any means, just a fun story that any Dungeons & Dragons fan can enjoy. Gives me some cool ideas for my next Dungeons & Dragons campaign.

The artwork is also well done. There is a lot of good detail in each panel and the colors look great. I am not a fan of how the Artist drew the dragon born character and some of the other drawings of minor things lacked detail. Outside of those complaints, I enjoyed the artwork a lot. I though the battle scenes were really good and detailed. It was not a chore to try and understand what was happening in the action,

Overall, I really enjoyed these books. It took a while to read through the almost 400 page omnibus, but it was well worth it. A fun story with a lot of cool images of cool Dungeons & Dragons stuff. I give Dungeons & Dragons: Days of Endless Adventure 8 capes out of 10.
