Web Series BACKCHANNEL Returns With Cameo from Stan “The Man” Lee

For those waiting for the rumored final movie cameo from legendary comic creator Stan Lee in Avengers: Endgame, you can whet your appetite with the returning web comic BACKCHANNEL.

Returning April 9 with the first of 26 weekly episodes after a hiatus to honor of The Man’s passing, the series follows Tom Tanner, a normal teenager with normal problems hiding he is an engineering prodigy being recruited by BACKCHANNEL, a hacktivist group causing havoc in prisons throughout the United States. Adding to the drama is Tom’s father, a widowed LAPD detective, is hiding life changing secrets of his own.

BACKCHANNEL is produced by POW! Entertainment, a group co-founded by Lee.  It is written by Tom Akel and Gill Champion. Art is provided by Andie Tong.  The original concept came from the legend himself, who appears in the first new episode with a can’t-miss cameo.

Tom Akel said of the project, “To have the opportunity to work so closely with the legendary Stan Lee was an unforgettable experience in itself. We were both excited to bring Tom and Martin’s story to readers in a modern, character driven tale set against the backdrop of how technology has changed familial relationships in ways that previous generations have never experienced.  I’m eager for fans to take a look and I can’t wait to hear what they think!”

Lee’s longtime friend and partner Gill Champion added, “I’m really excited to share Stan’s genius concept with fans and friends alike. Stan worked tirelessly on this project and I know he would be very proud of the outcome.”
