Not only are Autobots in Equestria but Spike the little dragon and Twilight’s royal advisor has been transported to the Arc on Earth. Grimlock the Dinobot is guarding the arc and quickly makes friends with Spike who admires the awesome and powerful Grimlock. All the Autobots are away on missions, so Spike and Grimlock are the sole protections of the Autobot base. Will they be enough? The autobot Gauge is a guest on Pinkie Pie’s cooking show. Their cooking is interrupted by none other than Shock wave who wants to see how many ponies need to be converted to energon in order to power a transformer. Can Pinkie and Gauge fend off Shockwave or will their gooses be cooked?

The story remains very lighthearted and filled with awesome good guy versus bad guy stuff. The different writer for this issue is able to be consistent with the last issue, but still make the story his own. Instead of one continuous story throughout the issue, we get two as declared by my introduction. The story is a disappointment because it seems like filler. I want to see what is happening with the big picture of the conflict, but the writer of this issue elects to go with a couple one-off stories. I supposed this can help later in establishing these relationships, but I would much rather see the main story progression.

The artwork is consistent with the look and feel of the first issue. Very colorful, popping off the page with everything understood easily. The panels continue to be arranged well and the action is easy to understand. I do give respect for a different artist being able to stay consistent with another person’s work.

This issue was not as enjoyable as the first and I think it has a lot to do with the one-off story model. This is a bias I have as a comic reader. I like to see the overall story progress in each issue and react negatively when that does not happen. Overall, I give Transformers My Little Pony: Friendship in Disguise! #2 a 6 out of 10 capes. Its fun and amusing, but the story does not progress and feels a bit like filler.
